STORY - L'ETOILE DU NORD par Thierry MARX

L'éTOILE DU NORD,

far more than a restaurant, it is the heart of the future Gare du Nord. Inside this lively area with its innovative architecture, Thierry Marx offers three distinct worlds at the same location:

Reliving the spirit
of station restaurants

L'Etoile du Nord reinvents the spirit of the station buffets of old. In yester-years, France was dotted with them, they were a meeting place for friends throughout the day, where they could have a chat over a good meal or simply a coffee.

PARIS GARE DU NORD

With over 150 years of history, the Gare du Nord—Europe’s largest train station and third largest in the world—is being transformed so it can better serve its 200 million visitors annually, and play an even greater role in the French capital.
L’Etoile du Nord is playing its part in this transformation by bringing French gastronomy to the 700,000 French, European and international travellers who visit the station every day.

ARCHITECTURE

Patrick Bouchain, pioneer in the conversion of industrial places into cultural centres, has turned l’Etoile du Nord into an exceptional architectural object, a moving restaurant that reflects the idea of the ‘stationary traveller’. A roof that shines like diamond points, a kitchen that opens onto the dining area, an intimate space that allows visitors to look through its windows and watch life pass by in the station and the square.
